Bye Bye Fat Dog

It is with a heavy heart that on 30th November 2016 we had to let our gorgeous German Shepherd, Conrad AKA with the ironic nickname of Fat Dog, go to sleep peacefully and be relieved of his pain & discomfort from CDRM /DM & arthritis of his back legs & hips.

He was very much part of our family, being here before our twin boys were brought home after our third & finally successful IVF course. He took to them with initial indifference but within just a few days was walking alongside the buggy (albeit at HIS pace) and would patiently wait by it, off lead if I walked away to retrieve his ball – never leaving it until commanded to come.

To take a rescued dog into a home is one thing, but to be confident from day one that (still with caution applied at all times ) you felt safe with babies & a GSD in their company is a lovely feeling – he was such an undemanding dog .. fussy yes, quirky yes, noisy at times yes .. but as he came to be know in his last 24hrs .. an absolute legend in his own lifetime.

See ya’ Fat Dog – thanks for everything.

If you are interested in fostering, rehoming or just helping fundraise then German Shepherd Rescue Elite, who so wonderfully paired us up with Conrad just over 3 years ago, would really, REALLY appreciate your time or help & above all if you foster or rehome a dog then you may just uncover a companion who, if they give you even half the love and comfort we got from Conrad will make you very, very happy & fulfilled.
